MINIATURE MODEL SAILBOATS

Another
addition to the Water Spirits line is this beautifully crafted miniature
model sailboat, unique among model sailboats with it's carved wooden
sails.
This example was modeled after the wooden hulled E Scows of the 1930's, and even includes the poles for the spinnaker sail. (The model does not include a spinnaker sail, however). Obvious on the hull bottom are the twin bilge boards and twin rudders characteristic of the E Scow. You may click on any photo for an enlarged view. |

Made of western red cedar, the boat is 10-1/2" long, and the mast is 13" tall. The Overall height is approximately 16" including the stand, and the hull is 2-3/4" wide. The sails are also carved from cedar, and are curved to resemble a real sail, filled with wind.

The model is rigged with galvanized steel wire and brass wire. The various fittings are brass or copper.

This model is left in it's natural wood finish; no polyurethane or varnish is applied.
