The first picture shows the jig in the raised
(loading) position. The work piece can be clamped into the jig
when it is in this position. The clamping arrangement utilizes
a toggle clamp in the same manner as the dado cutting jig. The
upper aluminum portion of this device is a modified G.I. cook
kit lid. The bottom, or stand, is a recycled ancient IBM MagCard
II word processor cabinet. The second picture shows the jig in
an operating position. The router in the picture will follow the
tapered cutout and impart a matching tapered shape to the inside
of the canoe hull. The router bit has a bushing around it mounted
to the base of the router to prevent the bit from cutting into
the aluminum template.
